Alain is the conservator of the Alpes Maritimes and the head archivist in the Department who holds joint French and Italian nationalities. He is also a professor at the Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis. Parallel to his career, his research in history concerned successively Roman antiquity, Italy in the modern and contemporary period and finally the history of Provence and Nice, including the origins of tourism.
